RCIA
RCIA stands for Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults and is the process whereby someone prepares to become a member of the Catholic Church. It is primarily for those who are over the age of 7 and have not been baptized. But it also includes those who come have been baptized in other denominations and wish to join the Catholic Church. The sessions are held on Sunday mornings from 9:15 – 10:15 am at the Sacred Heart High School Library. There are also sessions for children from age 7 through 13 who meet with their teacher in an adjoining classroom and join the adults occasionally. Childcare is also provided. We generally meet once a month in June, July, and August and then weekly starting in September and going through mid-May. There are special Rites or rituals that occur at transition points during the process. Persons who are already baptized come into the church at the Palm Sunday service before Easter or at another weekend Mass. Those who are not baptized receive Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist at the Easter Vigil Servie. See calendar below for further details.
